My son and I use this for fishing. The kayak is very stable and very fast for a double. With the turbo fins you can really get this thing kicking hard. The pedals are so smooth and so much fun to use. Best of all there is steering on the front and back so if I'm fighting a fish, my son can still control the kayak. The stock Oasis doesn't really have much in the way of fishing gear storage, but SKC installed some metal yakattack rails on the sides that let me mount extra rod holders. The only gripe I have with this kayak is that it doesn't have a Lowrance transducer plate like the other Hobie kayaks. I do not understand why Hobie omitted this option. Southwind mounted the transducer for me into the hull on the inside of the boat, which works great but does not read water temperature. All in all I am very impressed with the performance of this kayak.
Great pedalling kayak. The seats are extremely comfortable and adjustable. My wife weights 140 lbs and I weight 190; plenty of room for both of us. I bought mine with the turbo fins and the sail kit. This thing FLIES when you have those items on. Southwind installed the sail kit and furling kit for free when I bought my kayak. Very good service from Mike and his family. Delivered the kayak right to my house.
I bought this boat for my wife and I. We are a retired couple and have a house on Big Bear Lake. The seats are so comfortable, Mike and his son did a good job of explaining how to adjust the seat up and down and even the tension on the lumbar support. As far as performance goes, this beats everything Ive ever paddled on the water. It can keep a course very easily yet makes sharp turns. Everyone I see on the water asks me about it. The drive is very efficient and I can pedal this thing for long trips down the shore. I bought this with the Hobei sail kit which SKC installed for me. I also purchased the ama outrigger kit. I weight about 230 lbs so I want something that is really stable yet is not a slug. This boat is a great fitness tool. Really nice for taking pictures on the water as well since your hands are free. I was worried at picking this over two singles, but I think if you're going out there at least 50 percent of the time with a friend, then this a tandem is a good idea.
