Marina del Rey is a picturesque man made harbor located in Los Angeles County. It is a very popular fishing spot and for good reason. The harbor is not only home to many great fishing spots but is also very calm and accessible even for beginning paddlers. The weather conditions in the harbor are quite smooth and ideal for kayakers. Marina del Rey also hosts a Christmas boat parade as well as a July 4th fireworks show.
The waterways in the harbor are home to thousands of yachts, apartments and other buildings. Paddlers in Marina del Rey can paddle past Fisherman's Village, a colorful assortment of shops and restaurants along the water.
Marina del Rey is home to many great fishing spots. Anglers here can catch spotted bay bass, calico bass, sand bass, as well as barracudas. Casting past docks and pilings in the harbor can be very productive for bass and halibut. For the more daring and physically capable, fishing the breakwall at the exit of the harbor will yield larger fish. Exercise caution here though as winds and swells can pick up in the afternoon.
Air temperature in Marina del Rey ranges from the 50s to mid 60s in the winter and the 70s in the summer. The weather in the morning is usually more calm with winds picking up in the afternoon. The harbor exit can get particularly windy in the afternoon.
