The newly redesigned Hobie Outback is back and better than ever. This complete redesign features the larger Vantage CT-W seat, embedded H-rails and a sleek displacement hull. The deck space has been widened for easy standing ability, while the integrated deck padding keeps your feet firmly planted. The new Outbacks feature the MD180 ARC pedal drives with turbo fins. No need to upgrade. The drop down, kick up rudder makes navigating shallow waters a breeze, while increasing maneuverability. The Outback also comes with the Outback loader, a block piece that prevents the stern from sliding when you are car topping the kayak.
Thanks to Mike and Bobby for helping me out with this kayak. Their insight and ability to make modifications to the kayak was really helpful. I purchased this kayak for diving off the coast of Orange County. It's a really stable ride that still goes pretty fast. Lot's of storage options inside and out of the boat as well. I pack about 80 lbs of extra scuba gear with me on the water including tanks. The seat is very comfy and getting in and out is not difficult at all, even with tanks. Having this kayak is a much better option than simply swimming to a dive spot from shore.
First time kayak owner, and I could not be happier with my purchase. The mirage drive (foot peddles) makes a world of difference. I'm still new to kayaking so I haven't quite figured out how to smoothly maneuver with only the paddles. The mirage drive in conjunction with the paddles allows me to kayak at very fast speeds while still maintaining control as well. Very pleased with my purchase!
Really stable ride but is still fast with the Turbo fins upgrade. I highly recommend getting the sailing rudder. Its only $30 and makes this boat maneuver much better.
