Seminars
Greenland Rope GymnasticsOnce used by the Inuit to stay in shape for hunting from their kayaks, Greenland rope gymnastics are now used in competitions to keep Inuit traditions alive. What are the Greenland rope gymnastics? Basically, you hang up some rope and spin around it, sort of like rolling a kayak, and there's a bunch of different ways to do it. Think of it as Inuit parallel bars. Its fun, a great way to stay in shape, and the various exercises develop the type of strength, endurance, balance and coordination that will improve your kayaking.
Would you like to see the Greenland ropes performed, and maybe try a few of the moves yourself? Local sea kayaker Duane Strosaker will demonstrate many of the rope moves, and if you'd like, help you try a few of the easier moves. Just wear a T-shirt, jeans, socks and shoes to be more comfortable on the ropes.

No matter how many times you read about it or see it in pictures, nothing prepares you for the grandeur, beauty, and magnitude of the Grand Canyon. Sculptured by the mighty Colorado River, this ancient and vast wilderness of glowing canyon walls, mineral travertine pools and pulsating rapids has been luring hikers and boaters over its rim for well over one hundred years.
In 1981 Bob Foote was one of the first people to open canoe down the wild and thrilling waters of the Grand Canyon. From that first trip sprung his lifelong love affair with a place he calls home and his desire to share it with others.
For 26 years Bob has been guiding trips down the Colorado River and sharing his passion for the Grand Canyon with paddlers and non-paddlers, alike. Join him for a special evening as he celebrates and shares 26 years of adventures, misadventures, stories, pictures and more in this video/slideshow presentation.
