About The Position
We're looking for an outdoor-minded individual who enjoys retail sales and who will get a kick out of
introducing new people to kayaking. You'll have all the standard retail responsibilities, such as sales,
stocking, displaying and maintaining our store, as well as taking phone reservations for our many lessons,
tours and rentals. You'll work mostly in our retail store in Irvine. We have both year-round and permanent
positions as well as part-time seasonal positions.
Required for Success
We will provide you additional training and guidance but we're looking for a detail-oriented self-starter
who can manage priorities, take a long-term view of success in a position and understand the value of
apprenticeship. The right person will have the following:
- Success in retail sales: hard and soft goods; specialty outdoor retail preferred.
- Computer skills: WORD, EXCEL (page layout and web design helpful, but not necessary).
- Strong enough to move kayaks (with another's help).
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures as well as initiative to be a self-starter.
- Able to work weekends.
- Personal experience in adventure sports like paddling, backpacking, climbing, snowboarding, etc.
- Something extra? Kayaking skills.
