Position Openings - Program Coordinator

About The Position
You'll be in the office and occasionally at the beach, managing our rental bases and the logistics for our lessons and tours. We're looking for a kayaker who can keep people productive, keep gear moving and accounted for, keep paper work and the reservation system humming generally, someone to keep our programs running smoothly. You will train, schedule and supervise many part-time and seasonal staff and work closely with permanent staff to provide kayaking fun to several thousand people each year. In this full-time position, you will also work in the Kayak Center store taking lesson, trip and rental reservations and doing retail sales.

Required for Success
We'll provide you lots of training and guidance but we're looking for a pretty independent individual who is a self-starter, is detail-oriented, can manage priorities, takes a long-term view of success in a position and understands the value of apprenticeship. The right person will have most or all of ....

  • At least two years experience supervising others.
  • At least two years personal kayaking experience.
  • Basic computer skills using Word and Excel.
  • Skilled with hand tools.
  • Strong enough to move lots of kayaks and keep on smiling.
  • A clean driving record and trailer driving skills.
  • Able to write clear procedures efficiently.
  • Good at strategic thinking and problem solving.
  • Capable of developing loyalty and respect from a varied work team.
  • And, of course, being eager to excel, willing to do whatever it takes, able to learn a wide range of skills and able to work all weekends.
  • Something extra? Experience teaching kayaking or guiding kayak outings is a plus.
